What is a

What is a Power Spike?

Have you ever tuned in to watch the LCS or a twitch stream and come across the word “power spike” and wondered just what the heck they’re talking about? Or if you’ve ever gotten an upper hand against someone like Irelia early on only to watch as she hits level 6, buys a sheen and suddenly it’s you with the gray screen? Today I’ll be tackling the broad subject that is the power spike and how it relates to champions, items and even team compositions.

Guest Post: SOMA Review

Game Review: Soma

Short info:

Developed by Frictional Games

Released 22 September 2015

Genre: Survival horror

No spoilers to be found here!

SOMA is a video game that tackles complex philosophical questions about artificial intelligence, all taking place in a detailed science fiction setting that is literally dripping with atmosphere. The game is made by the studio that created arguably one of the greatest horror games ever made, “Amnesia: The Dark Descent”. I don’t know about you, but the sound of that makes my mouth water and if you share my love of science fiction, I’m sure you can relate. But is the game actually good? Well, let me explain.

SOMA starts out with our main protagonist Simon Jarret in the year 2015...

Back From the Gamer’s Grave

Hello fellow gamer noobs !

The League of Noobs has been around for almost 2 years now and the focus has shifted a lot since the beginning. I have had to leave this blog alone for a long time while I’ve been working on my Master’s Degree. I also have 3 young children ( the 4th one is on the way) who demand my time and energy. Aside from all of this I also enjoy gaming over blogging. So what little free time
I carve out goes to all of those things. However, a wind is stirring and I have finally finished my degree and so after two years I find myself able to fight for some time to blog. It is amazing how much traffic this little blog has gotten over the past 2 years and I am very appreciative and blessed to have worked with all of the gamers and bloggers who have contributed to this blog.

Going Pro is Possible for Everyone!

Today’s post comes from the Leauge of Legends forum board. I could not find a way to contact the author for permission but I enjoyed his post so much I decided to share it here. It’s a long read but a good one!

Dear community,

first of all, I am not a professional LoL player, but it´s not like I never was on a high level. I don’t want to start talking about who I was and what I did. All I can tell you, is, that I was in the Top-10 worldwide best players in 2 games, which were both played by more than 10 million people all time.

The feeling when you start a game and you know by a chance of 98% that you are the best player in the lobby, is as great as everyone imagines it to be!

I’ve done a lot of research...

Sun Tzu’s The Art of War can be Applied to League

Pic from Here
I was reading a few quotes from the art of war, and I noticed that many of them can be applied to League. See:
“If your enemy is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him.
This one’s pretty simple. If you can’t beat them, don’t fight them. If you’re a 2/4 Caitlyn, and you see a 6/1 Riven, stay the fuck away from her
If your opponent is temperamental, seek to irritate him.
It’s pretty dirty, but a lot of people play on toxicity. If someone on the enemy team is doing badly, a “/all sorry about your feeder” can rea`lly throw discord into their team. One thing a lot of junglers do is look at lolking or op.gg, find the enemy laner who has the most previous losses, and camp the shit out of their lane...

My situation, plus background on how I got here. Forgive the continuity

Hello everyone,
I may seem like a stranger, but I swear that I am not. I apologize for such a long hiatus too. Just to recap who I am and explain what has happened, and what will most likely be happening: My name is Zach “tar0” Miles and I am an 18 year old high school senior. I was originally brought on to LONBZ to cover the pro scene and the NACS. I did that, quite well, for a while. Then school got more rigorous, and I had to stop writing for a while and work on school. Once that calmed down I came back and began to write again. Then I began to play competitively, attempting to go pro, so my writing declined. It took a while, and then I realized that I was not that good. So I decided to coach and all that fun stuff, which led to me joining a few organizations...
